How Google Premier Partner Status is achieved

Not every agency can earn the Google Premier Partner title. In order to rank among the very top, agencies must meet strict criteria across three key areas: campaign performance, amount of ad spend, and team certifications.

1. Campaign performance – the key to client success

Google evaluates how effectively agencies manage campaigns, how well they optimize them, and whether or not they deliver the desired results for their clients. To achieve Premier Partner status, an agency must:

✔ Maintain a minimum 70% optimization score in Google Ads accounts – demonstrating the ability to implement recommendations effectively or to dismiss them in accordance with the client’s strategic goals.
✔ Exhibit the ability to acquire new clients while also scaling ad budgets for existing ones – a key indicator of campaign effectiveness and business impact.
✔ Maintain a high client retention rate, demonstrating the ability to sustain long-term partnerships and high levels of satisfaction with campaign performance.

2. Maintaining a significant level of ad spend and effectively managing substantial advertising budgets

To qualify for Premier Partner status, an agency must maintain ad spend at designated levels.

Additionally, agencies with Premier Partner status are evaluated on:

✔ Annual growth in client ad spend for both new and existing clients, which shows the agency’s ability to scale its efforts.
✔ Service diversification – Google rewards agencies that invest in a variety of campaign channels, such as YouTube, the Display Network, Display & Video 360, product campaigns, and app promotion – not just search campaigns.

3. A highly-qualified team – the power of expertise

Google places great emphasis on service quality, which is why it requires at least 50% of an agency’s client strategists to possess up-to-date Google Ads certifications.
