The closure of educational institutions, cafes, and restaurants, mandatory remote work, and the ban on public gatherings all had a significant impact on the digital media sector. We observed markedly higher levels in consumption of online content, despite the fact that much of our lives had already been taking place online.
In response to the current situation, experts from our online media department have prepared a report using data from the Gemius PBI research study. They compared two periods, March 9-15 and March 16-22, to show the extent to which the closure of educational institutions on March 16 influenced digital consumption.
The report analyzes changes in the number of actual users aged 7+, 7-15 years, and 16-49 years on the most popular websites, with a specific focus on news, gaming, and VOD platforms.
- Where did internet users spend the most time looking for information?
- Which gaming sites gained the most users?
- Which VOD platform was able to mount strong competition to Netflix?
